Little Richard - Here's LIttle Richard LP+CD
180 gram high quality vinyl album featuring a bonus CD of the same album.

Although, "epic" is a term much bandied about by music journalists, there are few moments in rock & roll history that truly deserve that label.

That said this LP, Little Richard's debut, is one of them. While it's true that in many ways Little Richard was continuing in the style of predecessors like Fats Domino, it can also be said that "the Georgia Peach" was the original punk rocker of R&B.

He cranked up the volume, caked on the eyeliner, upped the tempo, and pounded the ivories while wailing, "tutti frutti, loose booty!" (although it had to be changed to "aw rooty" for the official recording).

Pat Boone - Pat Rocks
(1-CD DigiPac with 48-page booklet, 34 tracks, playing time: 77:17) -- Second best-selling artist of the 1950s...Second only to Elvis! A unique collection of his rock 'n' roll songs! Includes rarities and obscurities! -- The latest volume in the Bear Family 'Rocks' series is a collection of surprisingly fine rock 'n' roll by Pat Boone. Much criticised and unfairly maligned by rock n roll 'authorities' over the years, Boone's rock 'n' roll catalogue was supremely popular in the U.S., the U.K., Germany and the rest of the world at the height of the rock 'n' roll era! In 1955 and '56, Boone visited the charts on both sides of the Atlantic regularly with a treasure trove of rockin' titles. His critics shout 'But they were nearly all cover versions!' Indeed they were, but they were very well sung, very well recorded, AND they were extremely successful! -- This new compilation features 34 recordings from the period 1955 through to 1962. Here are classic covers and revivals of Fats Domino's 'Ain't That A Shame', 'I'm In Love Again' and 'The Fat Man', Little Richard's 'Long Tall Sally' and 'Tutti Frutti', Big Joe's 'Honey Hush', Tennessee Ernie's 'Shotgun Boogie', and Red Foley's 'Chattanooga Shoe Shine Boy'. -- Listen and enjoy once again the rockin' Pat Boone, the artist who was second only to Elvis Presley in the charts of the Fifties, the decade when rock 'n' roll ruled the world! -- The set is rounded off by a generously full booklet featuring period photographs and detailed in-person recollections from the man himself

Rock-A-Teens - Zilli Studio Vol. 1
Pakko myöntää, että soittaessani tätä levyä ensimmäistä kertaa olin aivan varma, että joku pilailee taas kustannuksellani. Salamyhkäisesti ”Zilli-Studio, Vol. 1” –nimiseksi ristityn CD:n kansitekstit kun kertovat varsin erikoista tarinaa vuosina 1980-81 toimineesta vantaalaisyhtyeestä The Rockateens (Arto Tuuli: laulu, Juice Mansikka: kitara, Tapio Jalava: kontrabasso, Aki Linneo: rummut + satunnaisesti Pete Makkonen: kitara), joka ei koskaan tehnyt äänityksiä julkaisemistarkoituksessa – ja nytkin päivänvaloon päästetyt levytykset ovat tarkasti ottaen Mystery Train -yhtyeessä vaikuttaneen Ari Hannisen kotioloissa harrastus- ja hupailumielessä taltioimia 2-raitanauhoituksia kesältä 1981, jotka on sittemmin siirretty ja puhdistettu digitaaliseen olomuotoon Petteri ”Pete Boy” Salmen toimesta. Mutta että kotiäänitteitä?

Uskomatonta kyllä, nämä vaatimattoman jamisession tuotokset pesevät kirkkaasti sekä soitannollisesti että äänentoistollisesti suurimman osan oman ajanjaksonsa oikeista studiojulkaisuista! Jokaisella sektorillaan hämmästyttävän korkeatasoinen (ja kuitenkin reilusti alle parikymppisistä muusikonaluista koostunut) yhtye ei päästä otettaan herpaantumaan yhdelläkään esityksellä vaan pikemminkin kokonaispaketti tuntuu vain vahvistuvan vahvistumistaan levyn edetessä. Miten todella voi olla mahdollista, ettei tämän luokan yhtye löytänyt missään vaiheessa tietään viralliselle levy-yhtiölle saati edes keikkailemaan kotikulmiaan kauemmaksi? Kokoonpanon nimittäin kerrotaan tehneen uransa aikana vain kaksi (!) julkista esiintymistä. Solisti Arto Tuulen voi nostaa yksin tein pelkästään näiden näyttöjen perusteella maan 1980-luvulla vaikuttaneiden rockabillysolistien eliittiin. Lähestulkoon virheetön englannin ääntämys ja tyylitajuinen tulkinta hakevat totta puhuen vertaistaan yhä tänäkin päivänä. Samoin yhtyeen instrumentalistit vakuuttavat kukin omalla sarallaan. Bändi esittää vaivattoman oloisesti niin The Comets-tyylin r’n’b-billyä (mm. Rip It Up, Razzle Dazzle ja Jodimarsin Let’s All Rock Together), traditionaalista kantriboppailua (mm. Sid King -numerot Good Rockin’ Baby ja When My Baby Left Me sekä Ferlin Huskyn Slow Down Brother), tanakkaa straightrock’n’rollia (mm. Richie Valensin Come On Let’s Go ja Eddie Cochranin Jeanie Jeanie Jeanie) kuin myös hidastempoisempaa materiaalia (mm. häkellyttävän hienot Gene Vincent -luennat By The Light Of The Silvery Moon ja Time Will Bring You Everything). Etenkin basisti Jalavan työskentely herättää sanoinkuvaamatonta kunnioitusta: tuohon aikaanhan ei Suomessa juuri släppibassotekniikkaa hallittu. Miltei ilmiömäisiksi luontaislahjakkuuksiksi osoittautuvat myös rumpali Linneo ja kitaristi Mansikka, jotka molemmat onnistuvat välttämään soitossaan genren pahimmat kliseet – tuoden päinvastoin monilla kappaleilla esiin aivan omaakin persoonallista tulkintakapasiteettia.

Kyllä, kun seuraavan kerran joku ulkomaalainen tuttavanani tivaa minulta ääninäytteitä suomalaisesta buumiajan rockabillystä, lukeutuu Rockateens ehdottomasti soitettavien esimerkkien joukkoon – samalle kalkkiviivalle entuudestaan alan silloiseen eliittiin yleisesti noteerattujen Lonestarsin, Mystery Trainin, Golden Rocketin sekä Jussi Syrenin johtaman Red Hotin rinnalle.

Ehdottomasti tutustumisen arvoinen julkaisu - eikä tällä kertaa pelkästään kulttuurihistoriallisen merkityksensä vaan ennen kaikkea sisällöllisen laatunsa puolesta.

Rosie Flores & The Pine Valley Cosmonauts - Girl Of The Century
With over half a century of hard roots-rabbling between them, Rosie Flores—the Rockabilly Filly, and Jon Langford—head Mekon, Waco Brother and conductor of the Chicago-based collective the Pine Valley Cosmonauts, blast a sonic contrail stretching from Texas to Wales, from the dusty hill country to the dusky fetter cairns. These two long-celebrated musical forces, one with her cowboy boots firmly in the dance halls and the other with his work boots sloshing around puddles of beer in the pubs, come together for Girl of the Century, an album of spirited and soulful romps through the back roads of American music.

Recorded live-in-the-studio hot with the Cosmos tackling their task at the knees, Girl of the Century crackles with effusive energy. Anchored by the crack rhythm section
of Tom Ray (Neko Case, Devil in a Woodpile) on bass and Joe Camarillo (Waco Brothers, Dollar Store) on drums, the Cosmos find a groove and lock it in, be it the suave blues of “Chauffeur,” the Bob Wills smooth swing of “Little Bells” or the wild rockabilly of “This Little Girls Gone Rockin’.” Throughout, Pat Brennan’s stone-cold honky-tonk piano and John Rice’s count-in fiddle keep the boots firmly on the rail.

Rosie’s front and center vocals have never sounded better. From her saucy growls to kittenish sass to clarion Ronnie Spector smarts, there’s a versatility here she’s only hinted at on previous albums. Smooth, cheek to cheek balladry like “Last Song” and “Dark Enough,” a torch number so swampy it’s easy to imagine her draped over a mossy piano, sashay against a more playful and powerful side when she gets her pop rocks off Maggie May-ish blue-eyed soul style on the Langford penned “Halfway Home” or the Little Sisterera Elvis rocker “This Cat’s in the Doghouse” co-written by Patricia Vonne. For a little slice of heaven from the Conway and Loretta playbook, look no further than the old school duet with Langford “Whose Gonna Take Your Garbage Out?”
It’s all Texas twang and blustery, rolling rrrr’s.

Given that this is a Rosie Flores album, though, one expects guitar heroics. With Langford’s chunky punk roots, John Rice’s clean lines and Rosie’s off the charts vivacity and dexterity, Girl of the Century delivers with a handful of spades. There’s revved up runs straight outta Sun Records on “This Little Girls Gone Rockin’,” the exaggerated wah wah on” I Ain’t Got You,” and urgent straight up rock and roll in “You’re the One.” Check out the jolt she provides on the oft-covered Johnny Cash’s “Get Rhythm.”

This album is a gas, friends. We're ever so happy to bring these two super cool artists together.

Roy Orbison and Faron Young - Sing Elvis Presley and others !
An unreleased home recording of a rare and offstage behind the scenes glimpse of the early Rock n’ Roll era featuring Roy Orbison and Faron Young. In the fall of 1956, these two musicians visited the home of Judy Baker in Corpus Christi, Texas for some partying and socializing. Someone brought a guitar and requested an impromptu performance. Judy captured the evening on her portable tape recorder. This has become known as the ‘Party of 56’ and photographs are included in the enclosed 20 page CD booklet. The recording shows a testament to the pervasive influence of Elvis Presley on the music and performers of the day.

Please note that this is a home recording. Every effort has been taken to achieve optimum sound quality, however since these recordings are previously unreleased, priority is given to its historical content.

Roy Young - The Best Of 50 Years 2CD
One of rock'n' roll's greatest entertainers celebrating his half century as a professional musician has put together this 2 CD set of tracks spanning that entire period of rock 'n' roll, blues and soul described by one critic as "a mixture between Little Richard, Ray Charles and Joe Cocker".
Roy auditioned back in 1959 for Jack Good and performed on the now legendary BBC TV Show "Oh Boy!" Other TV Shows followed and Roy found himself opening for The BEATLES in Hamburg and subsequently spent 4 years playing on the Reeperbahn. Brian Epstein asked Roy to return to London with The Beatles as he could arrange a recording contract for him-Roy declined as he was committed to his performances in Germany.

After returning to the UK Roy joined CLIFF BENNETT & The REBEL ROUSERS and performed on their hits. He released solo albums "The Roy Young Band" in 1971 and "Mr Funky" in 1972 and tracks from those albums are included on this 2CD set.

In 1977 DAVID BOWIE asked Roy to play keyboards on his album "Low" which they recorded in Paris.

After many years of living in the USA Roy returned to UK in 2000 and returned to live performances including Beatles Festival in Berlin and Star Club, Hamburg 40th anniversary.

A new solo album was released in 2002 "Still Young" with tracks written by DENNIS MORGAN one of the most successful songwriters in the world. (from Angel Air website)

Royaltones - Detroit Rock'n'Roll Began Here !
Some bands never get the recognition that they deserve. For one reason or another, usually bad deals, bad luck or bad management, they slip below the radar and no-one pauses long enough evaluate their true contribution to this wonderful passion of ours; rock’n’roll. The Royaltones are just such a band. They helped spearhead white rock’n’roll in Detroit, scored two marvellous instrumental hits and numbered master musicians George Katsakis, Dennis Coffey and Bob Babbitt within their ranks. Yet, somehow, they missed out on all the accolades and fame awarded to much lesser outfits.

In 1958 their leader, saxman George Katsakis, made his recording debut on Jack Scott’s double-sided smash ‘Leroy’ / ‘My True Love’ and featured on most of the excellent material that the singer cut for Carlton. His own band were already rockin’ their way through Detroit, and within a couple of months the Royaltones joined Scott in the US Top 20 with their catchy instrumental ‘Poor Boy’. It should have been a smooth ride from there but they went mostly unpaid and so were obliged to sue their management - who also happened to be caught up in the payola scandal - and then somehow got dragged into the resulting quagmire as the press enjoyed a field day. Their record company Jubilee, sensing trouble, quietly released them, leaving the band to start out all over again.

The Royaltones financed their own Detroit-made recordings and then set off to New York to score a deal with George Goldner’s Goldisc label. ‘Flamingo Express’, their second Goldisc release put them back in the US Top 100 with one of the best rock instrumentals of its time. More 45s followed but Goldner did not really get behind them: there was no LP issued and they missed the big tours and TV shows.

Somewhat dispirited they returned to Detroit where they were one of the city’s top draws, soon getting a deal with Embee Productions. Releases by the band on Twirl and Mala included ‘Our Faded Love’, a big regional hit in 1964, subsequently covered by Bobby Rydell with added lyrics by Wink Martindale. Embee owners Balk and Micahnik also saw the value of the group as a back-up band for their other acts, such as Don & Juan and Del Shannon. Uncredited, they appeared alongside Shannon on several of his major hits including ‘Little Town Flirt’, ‘Keep Searchin’’ and ‘Handy Man’.

After a succession of high quality 45s they finally called it a day in 1964 when, without prior agreement, Balk put out a single by the band under the solo name of group member Dave Sandy. The Royaltones felt that they had been hi-jacked and disbanded.

George Katsakis then followed a multi-pathed career, recording everything from Las Vegas style cabaret to avant-garde experimental music. Guitarist Dennis Coffey and bassist Bob Babbitt both became celebrated session musicians, appearing on many huge Motown classics, while Coffey also enjoyed several US Top 100 hits under his own name. The Royaltones continue to be revered by Detroit musicians who are aware of the pioneering role that the band played in the musical history of the city. This fine, all-embracing retrospective contains their complete recorded output including many rarities, formerly unissued tracks, and even the original acetate of ‘Poor Boy’. At last justice is done.

Sonny Burgess And The Legendary Pacers - Gijon Stomp
Sonny Burgess is one of the wildest rockers to record for the legendary Sun label in Memphis. He and his band the Pacers came out of Newport, Arkansas, with a hard-rocking style that, unlike that of most rockabillies, owed little to nothing in the way of a stylistic debt to country music.

With his red-dyed hair, matching stage suit and guitar, and wild stage performances, Burgess and the Pacers made mincemeat of the competition on many of the early-'50s rock & roll package tours. Though his Sun releases never brought him much in the way of commercial success, his recordings nonetheless remain landmarks of the early rockabilly style.

Starline Rhythm Boys - Masquerade For Heartache
Voted 2008 Group of the Year by Freeform American Roots DJ's around the world, the
Starline Rhythm Boys are at it again. Masquerade For Heartache is the follow-up
to the Boys' monumental live recording, Live at Charlie-O's World Famous. Ten more
killer live tracks. Includes a mix of originals and covers with Danny Coane and
Big Al Lemery sharing the vocal duties and Billy Bratcher driving it all home on
stand-up bass. Several tracks also include the steel guitar stylings of guest,
Kevin Maul.
This recording demonstrates, once again, that the Starline Rhythm Boys can hold
their own with anyone in delivering a scorching live performance. Honky Tonk,
Rockabilly
and straight up Country is what they do and they deliver it with a passion and honesty
that is surely missing in today's country music scene.
Bill Kirchen's liner notes from Live at Charlie-O's World Famous certainly apply
to this release as well "...it's all right here; the tear jerkers, the crowd workers,
tales of the new fools on the old stools..."

ROCK'N'ROLL PICNIC 14. lokakuuta.

Valtakunnan valloittavin laulajatar Sweet Jeena kujertaa sydämensä täydeltä ja
Sweethearts ravistaa ja sekoittaa huumaavan cocktailin americanaa: rock'n'rollia,
rhythm'n'bluesia, rockabillyä, countrya ja lisämausteena tilkka jazzia.

Ennakkoluuloton improvisointi ja mieltymys film noirin kohtalokkuuteen kuuluvat
kvartetin musiikissa. Vauhtia, vaarallisia ohituksia, sivuluisuja ja äkkikäännöksiä
vasemmalle. Viattomuuden ja öisten katujen yhdistelmä on vastustamaton.

Energinen laulajatar ja vaivattomasti svengaavat musikantit puhaltavat liikkeelle
rock'n'rollin ajattoman pyörremyrskyn. ROCK'N'ROLL PICNIC rokkaa, rollaa ja jodlaa
luontevasti tunnelmasta toiseen ja siitä eteenpäin. Puolet kahdestatoista
kappaleesta on omaa tuotantoa. Tyylilajit vaihtelevat, mutta oma soundi säilyy läpi
levyn. Sanoituksissa vilahtelee musiikillisten eväsretkien lisäksi intiaaneja,
prätkäpoikia, nuorta rakkautta ja ihmissuhdesolmuja

vasemmalle. Viattomuuden ja öisten katujen yhdistelmä on vastustamaton.

Energinen laulajatar ja vaivattomasti svengaavat musikantit puhaltavat liikkeelle
rock'n'rollin ajattoman pyörremyrskyn. ROCK'N'ROLL PICNIC rokkaa, rollaa ja jodlaa
luontevasti tunnelmasta toiseen ja siitä eteenpäin. Puolet kahdestatoista
kappaleesta on omaa tuotantoa. Tyylilajit vaihtelevat, mutta oma soundi säilyy läpi
levyn. Sanoituksissa vilahtelee musiikillisten eväsretkien lisäksi intiaaneja,
prätkäpoikia, nuorta rakkautta ja ihmissuhdesolmuja

SWEET JEENA RANCKEN : laulu, huuto ja huokailu, jodlaus, scat-improvisointi,
moniääninen huhuilu ja moottorien imitointi, höpötys, piruetit

RISTO KLEMOLA: kitarat, huokailu, tausta- ja yhteislaulut, nimikappaleen terrierikuoro

HEIKKI KOIVUNEN: pystybasso, taustalaulu, virnistely, nimikappaleen terrierikuoro,
päävastuu rytmin elastisuudesta

TUMPPI HUUHTANEN: rummut, perkussiot, bändin levein hymy, päävastuu tanssijoiden
lanneliikkeen ylläpidosta

The Pirates - Live In America
AVAILABLE ON CD AND LP !
It was in the 1950s when three young Londoners - Mick Green
(guitar), Johnny Spence (bass and vocals) and Frank Farley (drums) - first
joined forces to form a band. Their first offerings followed the Skiffle
craze (The Wayfaring Strangers) soon it was Rock'n'Roll (Johnny and the Ramrods)

The Pirates got their first big break in the early 1960s when they became the backing band for British rock'n'roll singer Johnny Kidd, who is best known for his big hits like "Shakin' all over", "Please don't touch",
"I'll never get over you" and "Hungry for love". During their years together, Johnny Kidd and the Pirates toured extensively in Britain and Europe (especially in Hamburg), and on several occasions with the Beatles
or Rolling Stones as their warm-up act. On one occasion, Frank the Pirate and Brian Jones had a fistfight after a gig at the famous 100 Club in Oxford Street, London. No need to mention (or should I say munchen?!?) who got beaten!

Johnny Kidd and the Pirates recorded some of the very best British rock'n'roll
and rhythm & blues of that era. The Pirates also made the first recordings on their own without Kidd in 1964. The single "My babe" / "Casting My Spell" featured Spence also on vocals, and is ever since considered a classic.

Tragically, Johnny Kidd was killed in a car-accident in Lancashire in October 7th 1966. He was just 30 years old.

In December 1976 The Pirates featuring Mick, Johnny and Frank returned with a vengeance. A one-off gig was a huge success, wowing the press and fans alike, and so their never-ending tour started. There is a saying in
the music business; "never follow the Pirates!". Anyone who has seen them in action will understand that they were unbeatable on stage, and to follow them was definitely a mission impossible and an artistic suicide.

They also gave the world four stunning albums; "Out Of Their Skulls", "Skull Wars", "Happy Birthday Rock'n'roll" ( or "Hard Ride" if you were American) and "Fistful Of Dubloons", which are also now considered
rock'n'roll classics.

In November 1978 The Pirates took to the road for a four show tour in America, and had a big time there. Everything about the tour was huge; the venues, stages, audiences, limousines, hotel suites, cigars, bars... At
this point the Pirates had been working relentlessly for two more years,
playing hundreds of gigs and somehow finding time to record and release both of the "Skull" albums. So when the call from America came, they were up for it, ready to rock'n'roll and play better than ever. Luckily one of
these legendary gigs was recorded, but it took some 30 years for Johnny Spence to come across the tape from his archive collection.

And for goodness (note: I'm not using the F-word here!) sake here are the merciless threesome, live in America getting even with all guns blazing.
Keeping the Pirate-flag flying high and taking no prisoners. This stunning, long-awaited 16 track set features all of their classic songs, and is undoubtedly one of the greatest live Rock'n'Roll records of all time.
It presents the greatest rock-trio of all time at the peak of their powers and wilder than ever. Pure, tough, hard rockin' and rollin' music delivered in the way only the unholy trinity of Green, Spence and Farley know how.

Nobody does it like the Pirates!
