| Janis Martin - The Blanco Sessions Janis Martin was one of the few female recording artists working in the male-dominated rockabilly field in the 1950s. Nicknamed “the female Elvis” for her dance moves, the Sutherland, Va. native, born in 1940, recorded a number of singles for RCA Victor and Pallette from 1956 to ’61. Her first single, “Will You Willyum” b/w “Drugstore Rock ’n’ Roll,” sold more than 750,000 copies, landing her national TV appearances. In 1960, her first husband demanded she leave music. But she returned in the ’70s, and in 1995 made a guest appearance on Rosie Flores’ "Rockabilly Filly" album. It’s here that the saga of Janis Martin’s farewell album, "The Blanco Sessions", began. The Blanco Sessions, produced by Flores and Bobby Trimble, will be released on Cow Island Music on September 18, 2012. In 2006, Flores left Los Angeles to return to Austin and found Trimble, an old friend from Big Sandy’s Fly-Rite Boys, living there too. Trimble found a stellar and amazing team of Austin musicians to back Martin up including Dave Biller (guitar), Beau Sample (bass), T-Jarod Bonta (piano) and Trimble on drum. Kelly Willis also sings a beautiful duet with Janis. And in April 2007, the whole band, Janis, and her husband Wayne, drove from Austin to Blanco, Texas where the sessions took place. They cut eleven songs in only two days. Martin left the Blanco Sessions feeling that she had accomplished something really great, as she told Flores in a phone call that brought tears of joy to Flores’ eyes. But just a few weeks later, Flores received another call from her with the shocking news that she had been diagnosed with stage-four lung cancer. Martin passed away just four months later. Janis Martin died leaving behind an enormous legacy and thousands of dedicated rockabilly fans who still mourn her passing. Since that sad day in 2007, her name has been praised with awards and accolades. In 2008 she was inducted as an outstanding woman into the Danville Museum of Fine Arts & History in her hometown of Danville, Virginia. In 2010, she was recognized by the Library of Virginia at its Virginia Women in History Celebration. She was also featured in the Beth Harrington-directed documentary Welcome to the Club — The Women of Rockabilly that was broadcast on PBS. Flores says “I thank the great Janis Martin up in rock ’n’ roll heaven for inspiring me to do this. I thank you for giving me the chance to help with your final recordings. I will see you again someday, and we’ll work on the next batch of songs! These final recordings are for all of those listeners out there who love your voice, your spirit, your heart, and your rock ’n’ roll soul.” |

| David Moore - Hillbilly Stroll Dave is a product of Appalachian America. Growing up in a family of musicians, Dave spent his early years listening to old hillbilly tunes and singing in church. Dave's dad, a fundamentalist Christian Minister, was a hot fiddle player just before World War II. Those old 78 rpm records and photos of his dad's band were some of Dave's earliest memories. At the age of nine, Dave received his first guitar and over the next 5 years, Dave mastered 14 musical instruments. Dave has always been extremely interested in hillbilly, early country and rockabilly music. His cited influences include Roy Acuff, Bill Monroe, Bill Haley and Carl Perkins. His musical style has been equated to Charlie Feathers and has been called "one of the finest rockabilly guitarists in the U.S.". Dave also owns roots music monster record label Wild Hare Records and has supported many rockabilly acts through the years including historic artists Vernon Taylor, Billy Adams, Roc LaRue, Ron Berry, Joe Penny and Pat Cupp. To date, Dave has been heard on over 40 professional music releases and on over 270 songs! As for live performances, Dave has appeared at many festivals in the US and Europe over the past 10 years and is currently releasing a new CD entitled "Hillbilly Stroll" in April 2009. |

| Duck And Cover - The Pasadena Recordings Duck And Cover recorded this album at Wally Hersoms Wallyphonic Studio in Pasadena, CA. Tracks were recorded the old fashion way – live in the studio on vintage equipment. The Pasadena Recordings was produced by Wally Hersom, Dave “Pappy” Stuckey and D&C. Wally and Dave have both been a big part of the Western Swing and Rockabilly scene in LA for the last twenty years in bands such as Dave Stuckey’s Rhythm Gang, Big Sandy and the Fly-Rite Boys and the Lucky Stars. The record holds eleven D&C originals and three cover songs, originally made famous by Hank Williams, Wanda Jackson and Johnny Burnette. With roots in American melting pot of black and white music from the 1940’s and 1950’s, a period where rhythm, melody and style was in focus, D&C mixes their own special cocktail: One part Country, one part Boogie, one part Rock-a-billy, one part Hawaiian, - with a dash of Swing! Duck And Cover was formed in August 2007 and have since then performed at various venues and festivals in Denmark and Sweden. Lead-vocalist and fiddle player Krestine Havemann took over from Johanne Mortensen in early 2009 and with a stage-personality like Miss Havemann, Duck and Cover have gained new potential to persue the direction which was set in The Pasadena Recordings. This april the band can be heard around Amsterdam and at the Rock around Turnhout festival in Belgium. |
