| Carl Perkins - Whole Lotta Shakin' / On Top Carl Perkins was born into humble beginnings and spent his early years picking cotton but by his teens he was playing electric guitar and in a band with his brothers and was signed to Sun Records by Sam Phillips in 1954. From his Sun sessions came Blue Suede Shoes which reached the top of all the charts and became Sun Records first million seller. He was involved in a serious car crash on his way to a national V show which put him and his brother in hospital and nearly ended his career. His 1964 UK Tour saw him greeted as a conquering hero, playing to sold out houses and being particularly lauded by a young group called the Beatles, who played and recorded a number of his songs. Whole Lotta Shakin was recorded on June 3rd and 4th 1958 and On Top in 1969. Among the real highlights are Champagne Illinoise a collaboration between Perkins and Bob Dylan and Perkins powerful and touching Power Of My Soul. Carl Perkins was elected to the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in mid 1980s and died in 1998. |

| Charlie Feathers - Nobody's Darlin' But Mine EP A true Record Store Day treat for all fans of original Memphis rock’n’roll comes in the shape of this EP featuring previously unknown recordings and alternate versions of four songs by one of the all-time greats of rockabilly – Charlie Feathers. Cut in late 1961 for Memphis producer (and his former Sun colleague) Quinton Claunch, we found them some years ago when Ace bought Claunch’s Goldwax label. Problems with the tape, now resolved, prevented their release until now. Two of these songs have never been previously issued in the form that we present them here and one, ‘The Side Wind’ has never been issued at all. Only Charlie’s unique version of ‘Deep Elm Blues’ has been out on a single before – but not from the original master tapes until now. A highly limited edition and, as they say – when it’s gone, it’s gone. |

Then came Charline Arthur who burst forth from a rowdier universe, a place where the boogie was woogied, diamonds were flashed, and men were picked up and cast off. She was one of the few women who could hold her own on-stage with Elvis and the rockabillies. Her unpredictable temperament earned her a somewhat controversial image within the industry, which in turn matched her brassy, larger-than-life vocal style. She and Elvis toured Texas together in 1955, and by the time her RCA contract expired in 1956, Charline was at odds with the music business in general. In 1965, she relocated to the west coast, and then, in 1978, retired to rural Idaho to live in a trailer. Charline Arthur died in her sleep on November 27, 1987. |
