| Blue Moon Boys - Covertoons - The Beattime Sessions The Blue Moon Boys have re-released their first ever recording with the original line-up: Nic Roulette, vocals; Kenny Taylor, guitars; Keith Brewer,bass; and Dave Lemish on drums. It's a long-player (24 songs), a demo actually, of mostly covers and four originals. It was recorded in 3 hours,live to 2 track with no overdubs. If you've ever seen the Boys live I don't have to tell you this shit cranks. Yeah, Roulette drops a bunch of notes, but the Voice with a capital "V" is there; as is the wild spirit that drives this band aeons beyond the plethora of unbearable "authentic" blandness out there. It's not slick, thank God, and if Kenny Taylor's guitar playing were any fatter, heavier, more soulful, more swingin' or more thrilling it might be considered a controlled substance worthy of regulation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. I love this band and I love this spontaneous,messy plate of steaming-hot rockabilly. Sop it up with some bread. Eat it with a spoon. This is the real, stick-to-your-ribs deal. Aikaisemman Original-julkaisun tapaan formaateilla on osittain eri biisit. The BopCats on vuodesta 1979 soitellut yhtye, joka pysyy elävänä ja kuosissa, sekä pöyhii tuuheaa turkkiaan alinomaa, eikä vähiten erityisesti Suomessa elinvoimaisesti toimivan Rockabilly-kulttuurin ansiosta. Alkuperäisestä kokoonpanosta, Make Lemola, Hara Pöyhiä, Taape Pöntinen, Utsi Uusitalo ja Mico Jansson, on miehistöt jonkun verran matkan varrella muuttuneet ja vaihdoksia on ollut eniten basisti-osastolla. Tämän päivän kokoonpanossa on alkuperäisistä mukana enää Utsi, mutta Mico häärii edelleen taustalla lähinnä taiteellista silmää vaativissa projekteissa, kuten esimerkiksi tämän levyn kansitaiteilijana. Rumpali Ari Eerola aloitti yhtyeessä vuonna 1982, ja soittaa edelleen tänäpäivänäkin bändissä, joten voidaan puhua jo (lähes) alkuperäisjäsenestä. Basistina Haran jälkeen oli jonkin aikaa Timo Pohjalainen ja vuodet 2001-2010 läskibassoa kuritti Don Carlos. Syyskuussa 2010 liittyi bändiin bassonsa kanssa monissa liemissä lillunut Aki Savolainen.
