| Johnny Storm Band - Rockin' Machine Johnny Storm made a name for himself in the early 1980s as a youthful Rockabilly singer. He released two albums, "Flame On" and "For Greasy Kids Only", both new regarded genre classics, and found TV fame as a regular on ITVs "Oh Boy!" on which he made more than a dozen appearances. When the Rockabilly days of the 80s passed, Johnny Storm quit the music biz until 2005 when his original drummer called and arranged a one-off reunion jam. That get-together was so good that it would have been criminal to leave it there, so The Johnny Storm Band is now back on the road, gigging regularly, and it must be said, sounding better then ever. Youth may have been replaced by experience, but there's certainly no lack of energy here, and the band plays with at least the same enthusiasm as it did first time around. "Rockin' Machine" was originally intended as a 5-track EP of all-new material, but when some highly collectible, previously unissued material dating from the early 1980s was discovered, the project turned into a mini-album with a couple of bonus tracks which Johnny Storm fans old and new will love. |

| Salomon - Unisatu -Kootut levytykset 1971-1980 2CD Salomon, siviilinimeltään Timo Silvennoinen (1949–1997), oli yksi kohutuimmista suomalaista poppareista 1970-luvulla. Ensimmäiset levytyksensä Salomon teki vuonna 1971. Jo seuraavana vuonna hänet valittiinkin maamme kolmanneksi suosituimmaksi poppariksi ja tunnettavuus vain lisääntyi hänen saatuaan vuonna 1972 pääosan musikaalista Jeesus Kristus Superstar. Musikaalin ohjasi Reijo Paukku, joka muutamaa vuotta aikaisemmin oli noussut julkisuuteen ohjaamalla legendaariseksi muodostuneen Tampereen Popteatterin Hair-musikaalin. Suuri yleisö muistanee Salomonin kuitenkin parhaiten lavastetusta hukkumisonnettomuudesta Haukilahden uimarannalla elokuussa 1973. Tapaus nousi aikoinaan iltapäivälehden kansiaiheeksi viikon ajaksi ja tosiasioiden selvittyä herätti vuosien ajan keskustelua sekä pahennusta. Musiikkipuolelta Salomonin tekemisistä parhaiten puolestaan on jäänyt mieleen osallistuminen vuoden 1975 Syksyn Sävel -kilpailuun kappaleella Unisatu. Kappale sai yli 110 000 postikorttiääntä, sijoittuen kisassa toiseksi. Unisatu oli yksi vuoden 1975 suosituimmista kotimaisista popkappaleista ja se nousi pariksi kuukaudeksi singlejen myyntilistan TOP10:iin. Rock-diggareille Salomon lienee tullut läheisimmäksi yhdessä Paradise-yhtyeen kanssa vuonna 1978 tekemänsä Elvis-tribuutin myötä. Tämä albumi on saanut kiitosta ulkomaita myöten ja monet ovatkin äityneet ylistämään Salomonia maamme parhaaksi Elvis-coveroitsijaksi. Seitsemänkymmentäluvulla Salomonia ylistettiin yhdeksi maamme parhaimmaksi laulajaksi ja lehdet povasivat hänestä Suomen seuraavaa supertähteä. Tyylillisesti hän taipui moneen, rockista poppiin ja viimeisimmällä levyllään myös puhtaaseen iskelmään. Unisatu -kokoelmalta löytyy yhteensä 54 Salomonin levytystä, yhteiskestoltaan yli kaksi ja puoli tuntia. Mukana ovat kokonaisuudessaan artistin kaikki neljä albumia: Salomon (1976), Malaya (1977), Salomon & Paradise (1978) ja Uudet tuulet (1980). Lisäksi kokoelmalta löytyy myös kaikki Salomonin Fonovoxille ja JP-Musiikille vuosina 1971–1980 tekemät albumeille sisältymättömät singlelevytykset sekä joukko kokoelmalevytyksiä. Unisatu on Salomonin ensimmäinen kattava kokoelmajulkaisu. | The Pirates - Live In America AVAILABLE ON CD AND LP ! It was in the 1950s when three young Londoners - Mick Green (guitar), Johnny Spence (bass and vocals) and Frank Farley (drums) - first joined forces to form a band. Their first offerings followed the Skiffle craze (The Wayfaring Strangers) soon it was Rock'n'Roll (Johnny and the Ramrods) The Pirates got their first big break in the early 1960s when they became the backing band for British rock'n'roll singer Johnny Kidd, who is best known for his big hits like "Shakin' all over", "Please don't touch", "I'll never get over you" and "Hungry for love". During their years together, Johnny Kidd and the Pirates toured extensively in Britain and Europe (especially in Hamburg), and on several occasions with the Beatles or Rolling Stones as their warm-up act. On one occasion, Frank the Pirate and Brian Jones had a fistfight after a gig at the famous 100 Club in Oxford Street, London. No need to mention (or should I say munchen?!?) who got beaten! Johnny Kidd and the Pirates recorded some of the very best British rock'n'roll and rhythm & blues of that era. The Pirates also made the first recordings on their own without Kidd in 1964. The single "My babe" / "Casting My Spell" featured Spence also on vocals, and is ever since considered a classic. Tragically, Johnny Kidd was killed in a car-accident in Lancashire in October 7th 1966. He was just 30 years old. In December 1976 The Pirates featuring Mick, Johnny and Frank returned with a vengeance. A one-off gig was a huge success, wowing the press and fans alike, and so their never-ending tour started. There is a saying in the music business; "never follow the Pirates!". Anyone who has seen them in action will understand that they were unbeatable on stage, and to follow them was definitely a mission impossible and an artistic suicide. They also gave the world four stunning albums; "Out Of Their Skulls", "Skull Wars", "Happy Birthday Rock'n'roll" ( or "Hard Ride" if you were American) and "Fistful Of Dubloons", which are also now considered rock'n'roll classics. In November 1978 The Pirates took to the road for a four show tour in America, and had a big time there. Everything about the tour was huge; the venues, stages, audiences, limousines, hotel suites, cigars, bars... At this point the Pirates had been working relentlessly for two more years, playing hundreds of gigs and somehow finding time to record and release both of the "Skull" albums. So when the call from America came, they were up for it, ready to rock'n'roll and play better than ever. Luckily one of these legendary gigs was recorded, but it took some 30 years for Johnny Spence to come across the tape from his archive collection. And for goodness (note: I'm not using the F-word here!) sake here are the merciless threesome, live in America getting even with all guns blazing. Keeping the Pirate-flag flying high and taking no prisoners. This stunning, long-awaited 16 track set features all of their classic songs, and is undoubtedly one of the greatest live Rock'n'Roll records of all time. It presents the greatest rock-trio of all time at the peak of their powers and wilder than ever. It contains many hard to find and long since deleted tracks, many of which have never been released on CD. The opening track to this compilation ‘Spinning Rock Boogie’ by Hank C Burnette charted in the mid 70’s and was Paul Burnette’s record of the week on BBC Radio 1. Many of these bands went on to have massive chart success including Matchbox and The Jets. Here were showcase their early pre-fame singles. BBC Radio 2 just aired a 1-hour documentary on the subject of the 70’s UK Rockabilly revival and its listening figures were huge.
