Bamboo Kids - Bamboo Kids
In the Summer of 2001, The newly formed Bamboo Kids headed into New York City’s aptly named Junkroom Studios to record what was to become their debut release. It may sound clichA(c), but The Bamboo Kids wanted to make an album about living in the greatest city in the world a*0/00 about having no money, about fucking in bathrooms, drugs, booze, all the things happening around them. They wanted to find the perfect mix of art and delinquency.

Junkroom was an appropriate setting roaches and so-so sound made it just the dirty little rock and roll womb the band was looking for. Three days later, they emerged onto the sunlight streets of the West Village with an album.

After building a strong local following in 2002 and signing a regional deal with Norwegian label Big Dipper, the band decided to spend a hard year on the road. They played over 140 shows in 2003 from San Francisco to Trondheim, Norway. The band’s ferocious live performances spread their name and their reputation grew. When the band arrived home in October, 2003, they were surprised to discover that the New York City alternative rag ‘NY Press’ had named them “Best Unsigned Band” in New York.

The buzz eventually made its way to Pittsburgh and Get Hip Records’ Gregg Kostelich. Oddly, The Bamboo Kids had been eyeing Get Hip for a while, aware of the label’s love for no-nonsense rock and roll. The band was contacted by Kostilich in early 2004 and a deal was signed.

Blues Magoos - Electric Comic Book
The Blues Magoos launched their recording career with the LP Psychedelic Lollipop. The equally impressive Electric Comic Book refines the band's mix of rock ’n’ roll and day-glo psychedelia. That punchy yet playful approach animates such distinctive numbers as “Pipe Dream,” “Rush Hour,” “There’s a Chance We Can Make It” and “Albert Common Is Dead.”
Sundazed’s new vinyl edition also features a replica of the original comic book that was packaged with the album’s original pressings.

This ’60s garage-psych nugget is now available from Sundazed on High Definition Vinyl, sourced from the original Mercury-label stereo masters, with the colorful original cover art meticulously reproduced.

In their '60s heyday, the Blues Magoos were one of the first garage-punk bands to achieve mainstream success, and one of the first to embrace psychedelia. Early in their existence, the Bronx-bred quintet's high-energy live sets made them a popular attraction on the Greenwich Village club scene. Once they began making records, they quickly emerged as one of one of the earliest and most inventive exponents of the psychedelic sound. The band's 1966 debut album Psychedelic Lollipop and its 1967 followup Electric Comic Book, are two of that period's most beloved and enduring albums.

Blues Magoos - Psychedelic Lollipop
The Blues Magoos launched their recording career with a major smash, hitting the Top Five with the brash garage-punk anthem "(We Ain't Got) Nothin' Yet." That tune is just one of the multiple pleasures of Psychedelic Lollipop, notable as one of the first albums (along with the 13th Floor Elevators' debut) to use the word "psychedelic" in its title. The band balances swaggering proto-punk attitude, a Beatlesque pop sensibility and adventurous acid-pop experimentalism on such tunes as "Gotta Get Away," "One by One" and "Love Seems Doomed." And the Magoos' high-energy workouts on James Brown's "I'll Go Crazy" and John Loudermilk's "Tobacco Road" rank with the greatest versions of those much-covered garage-band standards.

Bob Hocko And The Swamp Rats - Disco Still Sucks!
The wicked torrent of fuzzed-out mayhem these Steel City hooligans burned onto their ‘66 and ‘67 single sides is legendary, from a raunchy “Louie Louie” that drinks the Kingsmen under the table, to the head-smash of “Psycho,” to the gunpowdered cover of the Sparkles’ “No Friend of Mine.” But you get not only all the singles on this first-ever proper reissue of their material, but four bona-fide killers from the vaults, including an original muscle-car fuzz romp called “Hey Freak"; an extended version of “Tobacco Road” that’s a shotgun wedding of Nashville Teens R&B hedonism and Blues Magoos Bronx bombshells; a fine bluesy original called “I’m Going Home"; and a spiffy cover of the Kinks’ “She’s Got Everything.” With the band members telling their story for the first time in the extensive liners, unseen photos galore, and crisp sound, this is -- once again -- the reissue of the year. Or maybe the reissue of the century.

Chimney Sweeps - Devil Girl
For the first time on wax, here's a dozen crude, unissued 1966-67 garage recordings by Australia's answer to the Alarm Clocks, the truly remarkable Chimney Sweeps. These guys never boasted a release during their short "career" (they played maybe 15 gigs tops) and were totally unknown even amongst top Australian collectors until recently. The twelve sides include wild originals like Lies, Lies and the demented Cold Fish ("she ain't no gold fish!") plus three cool covers — their dragged-through-a-ditch take on the Rolling Stones' Grown Up Wrong must be heard to be believed! The big crunch is capped by a '66 stab at the title song by the Sweeps' earlier incarnation, the Cobwebs. Features a full band bio, whacked out group photo (the only one!) and a buzzin' dozen garage killers!

Cynics - Here We Are
The Mighty Cynics are back with a New LP and the same fuzzed out mayhem that has made their live shows legendary. In the last year The Cynics have been extremely active, playing shows and Festivals in London, Rotterdam, Stockholm, a full tour of Norway, all over Spain, Festival Beat in Italy, and even a few acoustic shows which spotlighted the rich song writing talents of the Kastelic/Kostelich team.

Never has their talent been more on display than on the new LP. Those who had the chance to listen to advance demossay it is probably the best Cynics record ever, on par with their classic Rock’n’Roll LP. It was recorded in early 2007 in Gijon (Spain) at Circo Perrotti Studios, and counts with the collaboration of the members of Doctor Explosion, Jorge, Pibli and Kaplan as well as other great guest musicians.

Kastelic and Kostelich came out of the Punk Rock Movement in their early teens and into the Real Punk world of Garage rock during the mid-eighties. Hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, they have been at the forefront of this scene for more than 20 years now. Along with The Fuzztones, The Lyres, and The Chesterfield Kings, The Cynics have always been regarded as garage rock royalty. Kostelich still owns and runs the Garage rock label Get Hip. Kastelic’s wailing screams, his on and offstage antics, and his legendary tequila consumption have made an impression on points all over the globe.

Here’s what the cognoscenti of Trash are saying about the new LP:

The Cynics are sure to gain a wider appeal than ever before with their newest album… Gregg Kostelich’s playing and arranging here is tightened to such an extent that every influence shines through with infectious clarity… Michael Kastelic’s singing is his most expressive in years. The lyrics continue the familiar laments of loneliness, and lost or unobtainable love, but with a surpassing wit and expanded poetic pallette… Here We Are proves in musical terms, that the “We” in it’s title refers not just to The Cynics themselves, but to their audience as well. The accomplishment of such a feat is not to be underestimated…
