| The Pirates - Live In America AVAILABLE ON CD AND LP ! It was in the 1950s when three young Londoners - Mick Green (guitar), Johnny Spence (bass and vocals) and Frank Farley (drums) - first joined forces to form a band. Their first offerings followed the Skiffle craze (The Wayfaring Strangers) soon it was Rock'n'Roll (Johnny and the Ramrods) The Pirates got their first big break in the early 1960s when they became the backing band for British rock'n'roll singer Johnny Kidd, who is best known for his big hits like "Shakin' all over", "Please don't touch", "I'll never get over you" and "Hungry for love". During their years together, Johnny Kidd and the Pirates toured extensively in Britain and Europe (especially in Hamburg), and on several occasions with the Beatles or Rolling Stones as their warm-up act. On one occasion, Frank the Pirate and Brian Jones had a fistfight after a gig at the famous 100 Club in Oxford Street, London. No need to mention (or should I say munchen?!?) who got beaten! Johnny Kidd and the Pirates recorded some of the very best British rock'n'roll and rhythm & blues of that era. The Pirates also made the first recordings on their own without Kidd in 1964. The single "My babe" / "Casting My Spell" featured Spence also on vocals, and is ever since considered a classic. Tragically, Johnny Kidd was killed in a car-accident in Lancashire in October 7th 1966. He was just 30 years old. In December 1976 The Pirates featuring Mick, Johnny and Frank returned with a vengeance. A one-off gig was a huge success, wowing the press and fans alike, and so their never-ending tour started. There is a saying in the music business; "never follow the Pirates!". Anyone who has seen them in action will understand that they were unbeatable on stage, and to follow them was definitely a mission impossible and an artistic suicide. They also gave the world four stunning albums; "Out Of Their Skulls", "Skull Wars", "Happy Birthday Rock'n'roll" ( or "Hard Ride" if you were American) and "Fistful Of Dubloons", which are also now considered rock'n'roll classics. In November 1978 The Pirates took to the road for a four show tour in America, and had a big time there. Everything about the tour was huge; the venues, stages, audiences, limousines, hotel suites, cigars, bars... At this point the Pirates had been working relentlessly for two more years, playing hundreds of gigs and somehow finding time to record and release both of the "Skull" albums. So when the call from America came, they were up for it, ready to rock'n'roll and play better than ever. Luckily one of these legendary gigs was recorded, but it took some 30 years for Johnny Spence to come across the tape from his archive collection. And for goodness (note: I'm not using the F-word here!) sake here are the merciless threesome, live in America getting even with all guns blazing. Keeping the Pirate-flag flying high and taking no prisoners. This stunning, long-awaited 16 track set features all of their classic songs, and is undoubtedly one of the greatest live Rock'n'Roll records of all time. It presents the greatest rock-trio of all time at the peak of their powers and wilder than ever. Legions of West Coast country performers and current roots/alternative country stars have built on the sound, making it one of the cornerstones of American music. Collins scored several hits as a performer, including 'You Better Not Do That' in 1954. Just as Collins' career was taking off, he had a religious conversion. For several years, little was heard from him. He returned to music, and signed with Columbia in 1965. The following year, had a Top 10 hit with 'I Can't Bite, Don't Growl'. For the next few years, he had a string of hit singles. - By the early '70s, Collins' professional and personal life was on the verge of collapse, due to his increasing dependency on drugs and alcohol. He recovered by writing songs, many of them recorded by Merle Haggard, including the '70s hits 'Carolyn' and 'The Roots Of My Raising'. In 1981, Merle Haggard had a hit single with 'Leonard', his tribute to Collins. After the release of 'Leonard', the spotlight again turned to Collins, who was now sober. Tommy resumed professional songwriting and his most notable success was Mel Tillis' Top 10 1984 hit, 'New Patches'. |

| Tommy Edwards - It's All In The Game - The MGM Recordings 2CD Tommy Edwards shot to fame in 1958 with his ‘beat ballad’ update of the old standard It’s All In The Game, which topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, the R&B chart and the UK singles chart, selling 3.5 million copies worldwide. It made a star out of the singer/songwriter from Richmond, Virginia, who was then 36 years old. Edwards had first recorded the song for MGM in 1951 but this remake for the rock’n’roll era transformed his career. Edwards first made an impact as an R&B artist as early as 1946 when he penned ‘That Chick’s Too Young To Fry’ for Louis Jordan. Subsequently, his songs were recorded by Elvis Presley, Cliff Richard, the Four Tops and even Donny & Marie Osmond. Tommy sadly passed away at the tender age of 47 but 15 October is now ‘Tommy Edwards Day’ in his home town as a mark of respect. This 2-CD set offers four albums and several singles A’s and B’s from Tommy Edwards’ ‘purple patch’ with MGM, following the global success of It’s All In The Game. All are taken from the original master tapes in the US MGM vaults, resulting in the majority of the tracks being presented in true stereo and have been re-mastered. Accompanied by a fully illustrated and annotated colour booklet. | Tony Montanas - Mafiabilly If there's any band hailing from the rockin' underground of Germany that deserves so much more recognition than it gets, it has to be THE TONY MONTANAS. Regardless whether it was due to a lack of self-promotion, their general nonconformist attitude or band members literally locked away from the rest of the Psychobilly cosmos, in the past the Swabian three-piece always seemed to be unable to take the next step forward to rockin' notoriety. A lineup change a couple of years ago really did wonders for the the Mafiabilly experience and the reshuffled trio already left their mark on the Psychobilly Ratpack compilation with an exclamation point! Their second full-length album is a beast of a record anyway and if it doesn't turn the spotlight on these lads any brighter, I'll sort myself out and start listen to chart music. This package of mostly original material is a terrific mix of Rockabilly, Punk, ace musicianship and well-crafted songs with Italian harmonies and Tarantino type images of violence thrown into the mix that causes a very trademark sound that simply stuck in your head. To name but a few highlights I'd like to pick the amazing title theme that is an helluva intru-mental, the catchy sing-along Six Feet Below, the traditional Psycho rockin' theme that is Phantom Voices, live favourite Fick Dein Leben Crew, Judgement Day, Someone's Gonna Die Tonight, a song that sees the listener switching on a fake radio between the likes of The Nekromantix and Stray Cats before finally settling down with the song of THE TONY MONTANAS. A very strong cover version of Body Count's Cop Killer, Family and Bleed Me a Song are the best of the rest. |

| Topi Sorsakoski - Kultaa Ja Timantteja 6CD Laulaja Topi Sorsakosken syntymästä tulee lokakuussa täyteen 60 vuotta. Juhlavuoteen liittyviä aktiviteetteja ehdittiin miettiä ja laittaa suunnitelmia alulle ennen Topin menehtymistä viime vuoden elokuussa. EMI Finlandin osalta ensimmäiset suunnitelmat toteutettiin viime maaliskuussa, jolloin julkaistiin Topi Sorsakosken viisi ensimmäistä sooloalbumia remasteroituina painoksina. Juhlavuoden huipentumana, ja tietenkin myös kunnianosoituksena taiteilijan elämäntyölle sekä muistolle EMI Finland julkaisee lokakuun 26. päivänä kuuden cd levyn boksin "Kultaa ja timantteja - laulajan juhlakokoelma 1976-2011". Pekka Nissilän toimittama kokonaisuus pitää sisällään tallenteita Topi Sorsakosken uralta aivan hänen ensimmäisistä ääniteraidoistaan Jussi Raittisen The Boys -yhtyeen riveissä vuodelta 1976, viimeiseksi julkaisukseen jääneen, viimevuotisen Tummansininen sävel -albumin raitoihin asti. Juhlakokoelma-boksi sisältää 121 kappaletta, ja keskeisin osa materiaalia koostuu julkaisuista niin Topin soolouralta, kuin hänen ajaltaan Agents-yhtyeen solistina. Lisäksi mukaan on koottu erikoisuuksia ja harvinaisuuksia keikoilta, tv-studioista sekä erilaisista levytyssessioista. Osa tästä materiaalista on ennenjulkaisematonta, osa muuten harvinaisuuksiksi luokiteltavia löytöjä. "Kultaa ja timantteja" -kokoelman varsinaisena kruunun jalokivenä on sen kuudes levy, otsikoltaan "Topi Sorsakoski & Agents: First Takes & Rarities". Levyn materiaalin koonnut Esa Pulliainen sukelsi tätä projektia varten Agents-äänitysten nauhamereen, ja keräsi sieltä mm. kuuden kappaleen sarjan Topin ja yhtyeen ensimmäisistä otoista debyyttialbuminsa In Beat -äänityssessioista vuodelta 1985. Boksin tekstivihkossa Esa kertoo tunnelmistaan: "Muistikuvat palasivat voimakkaina heti, kun asetin In Beatin moniraitanauhan studioni nauhuriin. Tuntui kuin olisin jälleen ollut Topin ja Agentsin kanssa Finnvoxin B-studiolla vuonna '85. Se oli hyvä tunne". Boksin viides levy, "Solistina ja vierailijana", pitää sisällään mm. aiemmin mainittujen Boys-raitojen lisäksi Tammilehdon veljesten Kalle Kiwes Blues Bandin esityksiä Provinssirock-festivaalilla 1980, Pessi Levannon johdolla tehtyjä jazzballaditulkintoja vuoden 2002 julkaisulta Sateenkaaren tällä puolen, Topi laulamassa Dallapén solistina 2010, sekä postuumisti toteutetun dueton "Anna" Topin ja veljensä Antti Tammilehdon kanssa. Antti täydensi vuoden 1999 levytyssessiosta löydetyn nauhoituksen puuttuneet lauluosuudet, ja näin Beatlesinkin 60-luvun alussa levyttämä, Arthur Alexanderin tekemä popsoul-klassikko saatiin kokoelmalle mukaan. "Kultaa ja timantteja" -kokoelman kaksi ensimmäistä levyä ovat edustava kooste Topi Sorsakosken soolouralta, vuoden 1985 Hurmio-albumista viime vuoden viimeisiin äänityksiin asti. Mukana on mm. myös ennenjulkaisematon levytys "Amorin nuoli". Kaksi seuraavaa levyä keskittyvät Agents-vuosiin 1986-1992, mukanaan kolme raitaa vuonna 2007 julkaistulta reunion-albumilta Renegades. Myös näihin molempiin levyihin on liitetty live-raitoja, jotka ovat kotoisin YLE TV2:n Laulava Sydän -ohjelmasarjan äänityksistä. Niissä Topin säestäjinä toimivat Agents sekä vahvistettu Yölintu, Esa Niemisen johdolla. Soundi-lehden haastattelussa marraskuussa 1995 Topi totesi: "Kun meikäläinen koskee johonkin kappaleeseen, siitä tulee aina minun näköiseni". Totta se oli. | Topi Sorsakoski - Tummansininen Sävel CD + DVD Albumin äänitykset aloitettiin maaliskuussa Helsingin Finnvox-studiossa ja niitä jatkettiin Tallinnassa. Nauhoitukset keskeytyivät hetkeksi huhtikuussa, kun keuhko-oireista kärsineellä Topi Sorsakoksella diagnosoitiin keuhkosyöpä. Työhönsä aina pieteetillä ja suurella sydämellä suhtautunut Topi Sorsakoski halusi jatkaa albumin tekoa, sairaudesta ja siihen saamistaan hoidoista huolimatta. Levyä äänitettiin pitkin kesää Topin voinnin mukaan. Sorsakoski sai lauletuksi kahdeksan kappaletta. Levylle otettiin lisäksi mukaan 'Broken Promise Land' -kappale, jossa Esa Pulliainen soittaa kitaralla solistiset osuudet. |

I think I don't have to say much about the band, so Simon Brand (R.I.P.) and the boys are legends. That original demotape was handed to me ages ago by original bandmembers, with the regard to release it one day!!! I thought about it for a long time and here we go now. From february 1986 you get the original demotape on vinyl!!!! These track been recorded BEFORE the band went into the spotlight of stardom with their later re-recorded versions of "My Dream " and "The Source" on Zorch Factor one. Our mastermind behind the desks , Holly Burnette (Mad Sin founder member) done a ace job with keep the spirit of those 3 mono and 1 stereo recordings alive. So you can hear the band jokin' around whilst recordings "Death Trail" and on all recordings the double bass is much heavier than on the later made recordings. Our artdirector Johnny Montezuma done a brilliant and stilish artwork too, so here you get a perfect "hidden treasure" on wax. | Trini Lopez - Sinner Not A Saint - The Complete King And Dra Recordings Trini Lopez seemed to come out of nowhere in late 1963, when his simple, sing-along live version of ‘If I Had A Hammer’ captured the imagination of the world and catapulted him to global fame. Few people who bought the single or its attendant “Live At PJ’s” album were aware that this great new star had in fact recorded almost a dozen 45s before he finally hit the jackpot. Working from his native Dallas, Texas, Trini had been beavering away since the mid-50s, and had come close to a national hit with his second King 45, ‘Rock On’, but that and other singles for King, DRA and Volk had fallen by the wayside. When ‘If I Had A Hammer’ hit, many of these early tracks were reissued – often several times over, and with extraneous fake live overdubs – on singles and budget albums that attempted to cash-in on its massive successs. That was almost 50 years ago. Most have now been out of print for several decades, during which time several have become considerably more collectable than anything Trini cut while at the height of his popularity. For the first time on CD, “Sinner Not A Saint” collects up almost every master Trini recorded in his pre-fame years. These are not Trini’s greatest hits, but they show that his talent was never in question – all he required to hit was the right song at the right time. ‘The Search Goes On’, ‘Nobody Loves Me’ and ‘Sinner Not A Saint’ have found belated fame on the Belgian Popcorn and, latterly, the UK’s New Breed R&B scenes. All appear here straight from the original King and DRA tapes, and none of them feature the overdubs King added to some tracks in an attempt to fool some of the people all of the time. Extensive notes and a plethora of label shots make this a must for Ace and Trini Lopez collectors. King’s later issues of Trini’s tracks often sub-billed him as The Teenage Idol, and he certainly made a fair fist of trying to be one before his worldwide breakthrough. As befits somebody who was searching for success – and who was prepared to try on all sorts of musical hats until he found one that provided a comfortable fit – there’s a rich diversity of material on “Sinner Not A Saint” that will guarantee its appeal to lovers of late 50s and early 60s rock and teen pop.
